Introduction
The LAB School for Children is a Region One school that opened its doors in September 1995, designed to provide an alternative approach to education our children. We are a small, child-centered K-8 school with a core curriculum that has a humanities basis. It incorporates social studies and has strong linkages to literacy and the arts, with a multi-cultural focus. This curriculum enables our students to learn about each other's language and culture and also fosters development of social values.
The Vision of Lab School:
The vision of the Lab School is to nurture the co-existence of high academic expectations with the warmth and support of a closely-knit community of learners who share the common goal of life-long achievement. To accomplish this we make a conscious effort to foster the development of the whole child, enabling each child to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally as well as physically.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide children and families with an educational environment for excellence in critical thinking, exploration and experimentation. We are committed to developing each student to this/her full potential so that they can attain rigorous content and performance standards as wet by the city and state. By encouraging an understanding and appreciation of diversity, human interconnectedness and their relationship to the environment, we will prepare our students to be ethical leaders in their communities to serve the world around them.
